About Me
Hi, I’m Charlie.
I am a BACP registered counsellor offering online sessions for adults and young people aged 16+ with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties.
My experience
My interest in mental health started at a young age. Psychology and understanding the way our experiences shape how we think, feel, and connect with ourselves and others started to pique my interest, especially as I started to notice the prevalence of mental health difficulties around me. By the time I finished a Level 2 counselling qualification alongside my A Levels, I knew that this was for me.
I trained as a counsellor while working as a SEN Learning Support Assistant at a local special needs school, and that job gave me a real passion for supporting young people and neurodiversity. It was also around this time that I started the journey for my own autism diagnosis, something that continues to shape how I think about support and why it matters so much to create spaces where people feel truly accepted as they are.
During my placement, I volunteered as a counsellor at a local sixth form college. This experience allowed me to further develop my understanding of the different ways people can experience challenges and the importance of having a safe space to explore them.
These days, I work with young people aged 16+ and adults with a range of challenges, goals and presentations, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or just a nagging feeling that something isn't quite right.
Whatever brings you here, my aim is to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable enough to explore it.
How I work
I believe counselling should feel like a space where you can be completely yourself. You don't need to have everything figured out, and you don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about before you come.
My approach is warm, compassionate and non-judgemental. I see my role as walking alongside you, helping you make sense of what you're experiencing and explore the thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be affecting you.
I don't believe there is a ‘one size fits all’ approach to counselling. Everyone is different, and I will work with you as an individual, at a pace that feels right for you.
For me, counselling is about creating a genuine space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted — and where the work is shaped around you.
My Qualifications
Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling based on Transactional Analysis (TA)
Level 3 in Counselling Skills
Level 2 in Counselling Skills
Diploma in Counselling Children and Adolescents
